DISCIPLINARY FRAMEWORK

1 Assault on a student / Fighting Assault with intent to bodily harm; birthday hits etc. Administrative intervention. Expulsion.
2 Being out of the school premises Leaving the school grounds without permission. Detention and Parent notification. Expulsion.
3 Bullying Direct or indirect, physical or psychological intimidation. Conference with parent. Suspension.
4 Cell phones and portable communication devices Possession and / or use on school grounds. Devices include but are not limited to pagers, hand-held radios and cellular phones. Parent notification / takeover of the device / suspension. Loss of marks for the term Expulsion.
5 Cheating / Copying Dishonest while completing school work, copying and / or falsifying or altering records. Submitting another's work as one's own. Loss of marks on the assignment / parent notification. Loss of marks for the term Expulsion.
6 School sponsored Activity Misbehaviour Failure to follow conduct rules during activities, field trips or assemblies. Removal from activity. Exclusion from other activities / Suspension.
7 Computer abuse Inappropriate use of computer facilities. Loss of computer privileges. Suspension.
8 Disruptive Behaviour Play fighting, hitting, spitting, pencil fighting, running, kicking, shouting, throwing items, name-calling and / or engaging in behaviour which interferes with the education of others. Teacher intervention. Suspension.
9 Extortion / Forcibly Squeezing / Stealing Any act or attempt to secure money, property or other gain through threat or physical harm. Administrative intervention, parent conference. Expulsion.
10 Failure to report Information Students who have knowledge of any disciplinary offence are obliged to report this information to a staff member immediately. Parent conference. Suspension.
11 Failure to report a Teacher's detention Failure to serve the first detention assigned by a teacher. Doubled detention with the teacher. Referral to administration.
12 Failure to report an Administrative detention Failure to serve assigned detention. Doubled detention / Parent conference. Suspension.
13 Graffiti / Scribbling Drawing or writing on school property. Detention / Property restitution. Suspension.
14 On campus Behaviour Running, loitering, disruptive behaviour, screaming, chanting etc. Parent conference. Suspension.
15 Hazardous Materials Possession of Fireworks, lighters, matches, sharp pointed objects etc. Parent conference / Suspension. Expulsion.
16 Inappropriate items Items such as unauthorised money, cameras, radios, electronic games / pets, toys, trading cards, dice, laser pens, headphones, permanent markers, playing cards, Walkman etc. which are not necessary for the school programme. Confiscation of items. Suspension.
17 Insubordination / Disrespect Refusal to carry out a reasonable request by a staff member, refusal to give an explanation when asked. Teacher intervention. Suspension.
18 Littering Leaving any materials such as food articles, paper, cans, etc. anywhere in class or in the school grounds. Conference / Community service. Suspension.
19 Loitering Hanging around the building or campus without a school related purpose, including being in the hallways without permission. Conference. Suspension.
20 Misuse of uniform 1. Wearing of the school uniform in public places such as shopping areas, cinema halls, restaurants, coaching classes, visiting etc. Parent notification / Suspension. Expulsion
21 2. Coming to school in incomplete / incorrect uniform.
22 Profanity, obscenity / abuse Using / writing profane or vulgar language or making obscene confrontation / gestures. Teacher intervention. Expulsion.
23 Retaliation "Getting even" with another student or adult by threatening a verbal or physical confrontation. Parent conference. Suspension.
24 Skipping Class Leaving class without a teacher's permission or not attending class. Parent conference / Detention. Suspension.
25 Tardiness / Regular delay Arriving to school, class or detention after the assigned time. Teacher intervention / Parent notification. Suspension.
26 Theft /Burglary Taking something that does not belong to you. Detention and Restitution. Suspension / Expulsion.
27 Truancy / Absence without leave Illegal absence from school. In school suspension / Parent Notification. Suspension / Expulsion.
28 Vandalism Willful destruction or defacement of school or personal property. Detention / parent notification / restitution / payment. Expulsion.
29 Verbal Abuse Willfully intimidating, insulting or in any other manner abusing verbally a staff member of student, racial, ethnic, gender or religious slurs are included in this policy. Teacher intervention. Suspension.
